Rick Luetkemeyer, MD has served as the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at Health Strategy since 2010. As CMO, Dr. Luetkemeyer supports jumbo self-insured employers in custom formulary development and management. One highlight of his role is researching the scientific efficacy of newly approved FDA drugs and analyzing their clinical value from the perspective of the payor and patient. Dr. Luetkemeyer supports the Chief Pharmacy Officer in reviewing all new drug to market reviews on behalf of clients who manage low clinical value drug coverage. He also supports some clients with formalized coverage appeals.

Prior to joining Health Strategy in 2010, he held many different roles in the medical field, including the Director of Primary Care at Caterpillar and Chairman of the Department of Medicine at University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria and OSF Medical Center (OSFMC). He currently teaches at the University of Illinois College of Medicine and OSF-Saint Francis Medical Center.

Dr. Luetkemeyer earned his medical degree from the Loyola‐Stritch School of Medicine in 1971. He completed his internship and internal medicine residency at OSF St. Francis Medical Center/University of Illinois College from 1971 through 1975.

Dr. Luetkemeyer previously held the following board certifications: American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) (1975), ABMI Advanced Achievement in Internal Medicine (1987) and ABIM Geriatric Medicine (1988). He maintains his Physician and surgeon license in Illinois.
