John Watson, PharmD joined Health Strategy in 2023 as Chief Growth Officer.  In this role, John serves as a senior advisor to the firm on go-to-market growth strategy development and execution.  With a passion for creative strategy development, John also partners with clients to develop and implement solutions for their toughest healthcare challenges.

Prior to joining Health Strategy, John was the Vice President, Growth and Strategy for Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC), where he led the commercial employer pharmacy strategy and go-to-market functions for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Montana, and Illinois. Additionally, John has executive leadership experience in PBM and Consulting Business Development and Strategy.

John holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Texas at Austin.  While he is no longer a “practicing pharmacist”, John’s professional north star remains making medications accessible and affordable for patients by supporting innovative benefit programs.

Outside of work, you might find John on a North Texas youth sports field or in the kitchen – focusing his time and energy with his wife and 3 children.
